Family Pet Rescued at Apartment Fire - March 4, 2009
Task Force 691 responded to an apartment fire on Dobbs Drive, Fox Ridge Apartments. The Camden County Communications Center reported a stove fire initially, with the first arriving police units reporting that the fire had spread to the walls, cabinets and ceiling of the kitchen area. Engine 6912 was the first unit to arrive and was ordered to stretch a 1 3/4 attack line to the second floor by 69101. Engine 821 stood by the hydrant and sent their crew forwarded to assist 6912 and check for extension.
Quint 65 and Quint 29 assisted with ventilation and salvage & overhaul. An initial knockdown of the fire by police prevented the fire from extending further. During the incident a tenant reported that the family cat was missing. A quick search of the second floor by the interior crews found the cat hiding under a bed. The incident was placed under control within 20 minutes and was being investigated by CFM 13 and CFM 5.
