On August 21, Station 691 took delivery of a 2010 Hackney/International Rescue Truck. The new apparatus has a 5-man crew cab with "911" SCBA seats, a 25kw PTO generator, new Genesis Rescue Tools, a Mat Jack 67 ton Air Bag System, a 15ft telescoping light tower recessed in the roof, a 12,000 lb electric winch, two wheel mounted speedi-dry hoppers, and roof mounted compartments The cab and chassis are equipped with a display screen and rear mounted camera that activates when the truck is backing, and the new NFPA required "black box" that records all of the truck operations.
The new truck replaces the 18ft GMC StepVan that has been in service since 1986. On the day of the delivery, the department received notification from FEMA that we had been awarded a 2008 "Assistance to Fire Fighter Grant" for the purchase of the new rescue.
